Why I am the right person for this job!
I imagine that most people applying for this job would say that this is their dream job.
I'm curious to whether it really is, or is it the generous salary and the apparent "holiday" they think they'd be on?
Before my Mum & Dad pointed me to the website, my plans for this year entailed one thing, photographing and blogging my way around Australia. For the past three years I've done just that around Europe, then earlier this year with the current financial situation and many Australian friends coming home to pursue their dreams, I thought it was time to come home too and do what I love!
Then this job came under offer... and my life has been turned upside down. For the first time in my life, I have a burning desire. Knowing that there is a position available for the one thing that I've only ever wanted to do, and for it to be in a location that I have evangelised for the past six years and to do exactly that-evangelise Queensland to the many travelers of the world. I honestly feel this job was custom built, bespoke for me.
Here's a quick list of why I am ideal for this position.
- I have (for the past five years) and still do blog regularly (photography and writing) on world travel.
- I have over four years of web marketing experience.
- I have a degree in computer science, I could actually build the blog if needs be (I built this one).
- I have worked as a photographer on Daydream Island, in the Whitsundays.
- I am a commercial advertising photographer.
- I am a competent sailer, skills gained by training in the Whitsundays.
- I am a PADI Certified diver.
- I have Bronze & Silver Duke of Edinburgh qualifications, which means I love to get outdoors.
- I have an Australian boat license and access to personal watercraft in the Whitsunday's.
- Access to a 4WD Vehicle located in Shute haven/harbour. Which will allow me to cover further of the Queensland Coast.
- Adventurous Spirit, I have worked as a Lift Operator and Snowboard Instructor on Stratton Mountain, Vermont.
- What I think is most important, is that I have evangelised the Whitsunday's and Queensland for the past six years already, there is no question that I am already devoted to this cause.
